At the beginning was an explosion… Powerful radioactive energy of Chornobyl APP gave birth to panic, migration, madness… and Ukrainian rock. In a week after the disaster, when turmoil worried Ukraine and its neighbours, three students (Oleg Skrypka, Oleksandr Pipa and Yuriy Zdorenko) were peacefully sitting in their native hostel of a well-known Kyiv Polytechnical Institute and drinking tea, mulling over the problem of absence of any occupation: «what to do when you have nothing to do…». It was the beginning of the rock band «VV». Though the real «VV» they became a little bit later. It happened when Fedir Myhaylovych joined the group, when it became wiser and found the drummer Serhij Sakhno, born in distinguished Chornobyl. And from the very beginning «VV» captured the hearts, brains, hands, legs of all reasonable Ukrainians. Not any girl could resist passionate «my goddess, you are my gueen. Without you, without you I wouldn’t live….» and as passionately as it was sung, went dancing at once. Their first hit «Tantzi» caused unexpected explosion, making even respectable people with ties jump like children. And it is impossible to describe the energy which was coming out the youth and teenagers. But in contrast to all-Ukrainian tragedy, that explosion brought a lot of common sense and wild drive. «Mum, hey! Mum, the boys are playing...» and what is more, it was real rock, even if their mothers didn’t allow them to go to the club, they would be singing about «what everybody hurts», «what is missing, who has done and why?» It was Ukrainian politrock! And, most probably they would sing about stars, love and a beautiful, distant country of dreams. «The first rock-parade» became not only debut for the band but also the first star and reward of popularity. Then came concerts, the first travel abroad, a very long list of towns, friends, grateful tears of fans, autographs, interviews, tours….The illnesses which often happened to famous musicians, masters of the stage maybe were legging behind the rhythm of the band, that is why they found the place in spots of a native stage. The meeting of the band with French musical company «Yanus» in Moscow became fatal and crucial. Being invited to a festival in France boys lived there for the whole 5 years with a pretty natural desire to capture the world market, work and success. «Some day or other the stars will be gone but we will have already been away. Nevertheless, our hopes wil be living on the Earth. Then, maybe, scientists will learn what we have now in our souls from genes». It is not easy for emigrant to live - working and working….And where the recognition is, for which all creative people are forced to accept the challenge of society? And glory or, if you like, recognition, tired with a long leave, was waiting in native Kyiv, was hiding in the hearts of people. But after all, «cuckoo counts the years of life: «Ku-ku! Ku-ku»and «the years are flying away…» implacably. For unknown reasons, the guitar player Yuriy Zdorenko left the band and his place was taken by different musicians, sometimes even pureblooded Frenchmen. So, VV existed as a band with Ukrainian-French staff. «The bridges are in the fire but there is still a hope. Ryu-ra, ry-ryu, ryu-ryu, I will leave the sorrow… » The hope to come back home, to favourite dishes, to a pleasant native language and to many other native things was so strong…, that VV finally came back home. At once they found a young talented guitar player Yevgen Rogachevskyi, the career of whom was connected with such bands as «Yitzkyi Aun» and «Emperor». Beeing a teenager and a great fan of VV, he knew the texts of all songs and played all guitar parts correctly. And the music was played with a new strength! Strongly and powerfully! Thanks to very rich experience and the crowds of fans that missed live concerts. Later on VV was said to have the right for being included into the Guinness World Records as a band that never tempted to use phonogram. It would cause a grandiose explosion in the nearest future. And then came the period of «Vichnoyi Vesny», that is, the tour of concerts. Having travelled all over Ukraine, Byelorussia, Russia, called on brotherly Yakutia, the boys always came back home, to native Kyiv in order «to conduct the next explosion». A really astonishing turned to be joint appearance of the band, together with the orchestra and chorus of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. There were no epithets in the world to describe the way how 30 singers and 50 military musicians in full dress delicately accompanied to bayan and bass guitar «Oy ty Galyu, Galyu molodaya…». «Vesna pryide, vesna vgamuye!» sounded in souls of young and old. Having got three «firebirds» (awards) of the festival «Tavriyski Igry» for their song «Vesna» should make them be heartily glad about it, especially seeing the band of the river Dnipro, full of fans, who were roaring in unison «Bui, bui, bui! Bu-bu-bu-bui! Bui, bui, bui! Bu-bu-bu-bui!» A hot, heated Slavic blood always aimed at the beautiful. A successful flight of the band’s disc «Muzika» in Leonid Kadenyuk’s (the first Ukrainian cosmonaut) bosom on the board of American spaceship «Shuttle» unexpectedly thundered throughout the country. Or, maybe, musicians wanted to conduct one more explosion in the cold space? It’s uncertain, but new millenium brought new achivements. They began to pioneer new, unattainable countries: America, Israel, Hungary, England and Portugal. It was the first day of September (dear reader, maybe you noticed some symbolicalness) when the album «Hvyli Amura» was released, which became the «golden» album of the band, and the hit «Den Narojennya» cought a race of «Vesna» and carried it through the native land.To be continued...
